Maddie Woodrick, M.A.
Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling
Transitional Status Notice
I have completed my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and applied for a Michigan limited counselor license. I am currently preparing to begin supervised counseling practice through the Heart Walk Collective after my license is issued and onboarding is complete.
I am not currently providing counseling services or scheduling counseling appointments. Confirmed availability, fees, insurance participation, and instructions for requesting an appointment will be posted here when scheduling opens.
My Approach
I believe meaningful change grows through connection, understanding, and the experience of being genuinely seen. My approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills at the heart of my work. I am grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help people understand relationships among their thoughts, emotions, values, and actions.
Psychoeducation is also an important part of my work. When helpful, I offer optional worksheets, journal prompts, and carefully selected resources to support reflection and skill-building between sessions. I am also completing additional training in DBT skills.
Who I Hope to Support
My future practice will focus primarily on adults across the lifespan; I may also work with adolescents ages 13โ17 in-person when the concern and clinical fit are appropriate. I am especially drawn to people who experience emotions intensely, feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them, or want to better understand their responses to stress, relationships, and change.
I help individuals recognize patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while building practical skills to navigate distress, regulate emotions, communicate more effectively, and make choices aligned with their values. For neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ individuals, therapy can be a place to explore identity, recognize needs, unlearn shame, and develop strategies that work with who you are. I also have a particular interest in supporting people affected by trauma, grief, or suicide lossโmaking room to process how these experiences may shape emotions, relationships, safety, and sense of self without forcing a particular story, timeline, or meaning.
My experience with substance use and co-occurring mental-health concerns has taught me that recovery is not one-size-fits-all. My perspective is grounded in harm reduction, safety, and client choice, with room for people who connect with SMART Recovery, AA, or other pathways. Across my work, I strive to create a respectful, collaborative, LGBTQIA+ and gender-affirming environment. People of all religious, spiritual, questioning, agnostic, and nonreligious backgrounds are welcome; faith may be included when meaningful to you, but it will never be assumed or imposed.

Availability & Fees
Counseling appointments are not currently available.
Once licensed and authorized to begin supervised practice, I expect to offer individual counseling for adults in-person and through telehealth. Adolescents ages 13โ17 would be seen in person only. Final days, appointment times, fees, insurance participation, and any reduced-fee options are still being confirmed with the Heart Walk Collective and will be published before scheduling opens.
